Day 1: Cycling & Birding to the Twin Lakes
After early morning easy breakfast, our cycling guide will meet you for a brief information about what to carry on cycling trail obviously binoculars and cameras. After briefing we shall cycle to the twin lakes of Lake Chahafi and Kayumbu. The twin lakes offers the backdrop of volcanic mountains Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo nice for photography.
For bird lovers the destination is well known as bird watchers small paradise with lots of water birds the Jesus’s Bird African jacana, black crake, common moorhen, cormorants, malachite kingfisher, yellow billed Duck, swampy flycatcher crested crane , African stonechat, weavers among others, this adds to your bird life checklist.
For those who are interested in history, Lake Chahafi has rich colonial history about the struggle for the control of Kigezi region at the time for the First World War, this lake is where in 1914, the combined forces of British and Belgians set up a fighting base to attack the methods of the Germans in struggle to control Kigezi. The place has tunnels which acted as hiding area for fighting by colonialists.
After we shall cycle back to beautiful Kisoro town for a Night life. This will involve live cooking, African beer and wine testing. You will have the night camp fire as you enjoy your cold beer within the cool environment.
Day 2: Cycling & Photography at Lake Mutanda
After breakfast, we cycle to Lake Mutanda and Mulehe. The lake has rich cultural heritage with 13 islands, where some islands has rich history to share with you. Lake Mutanda is the only remaining un touched lake in South Western Uganda and bilharzia free lake good for swimming. This lake is on foothills of volcanoes thus giving a stunning view for photographers.
